These Halloween deviled eggs get their spooky look from cracked shells dyed in eerie colors. The filling is a classic mix of yolks, mayo, and mustard, easily tinted to match. A few hours of soaking in colored water creates a creepy marbled effect that's perfect for your Halloween party.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Using the rounded side of a spoon or by gently rolling eggs on the counter, create small cracks all over the shells without removing them.
  2. Fill a container with sufficient water to submerge the eggs, then stir in the food coloring until well combined.
  3. Place the cracked eggs into the colored water bath, adding extra water if needed so they are fully covered.
  4. Seal the container with its lid or by covering it with plastic wrap.
  5. Let the eggs sit in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours, or leave them overnight for more intense color.
  6. Take the eggs out after the desired soaking time and rinse them under cold water, adding a splash of white vinegar to help set the dye.
  7. Carefully remove the shells from the eggs and throw them away.
  8. Cut each egg in half lengthwise and gently scoop out the yolks into a mixing bowl.
  9. Combine the yolks with mayonnaise, mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper, mixing thoroughly. If you want colored yolks, add a few drops of food coloring and stir until even.
  10. Fill the egg white halves with the yolk mixture using a spoon or a piping bag for a neater look.
  11. For extra flair, dust the tops with paprika, chia seeds, or parsley.
  12. Keep the deviled eggs in the fridge until ready to serve, and present them cold.
