Halloween Margarita Recipe
Turn up the fright with a blood-red rim and berry heart garnish on this eerie Halloween margarita.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at foxeslovelemons.com.
This Halloween margarita features a creepy bloody rim made from corn syrup and red food coloring, plus blackberry heart skewers for a twisted touch. The drink mixes tequila, beet juice, lime, agave, and orange liqueur for a tart, slightly earthy flavor. Serve it chilled with dehydrated orange slices for extra spooky flair.
Ingredients
Directions
- For the bloody rim, mix 1 tablespoon of light corn syrup with 3 to 4 drops of red gel food coloring on a small plate until fully combined. Lightly coat the rims of two margarita or cocktail glasses with the mixture, then set the glasses upright and place them in the fridge to firm up while you prepare the rest.
- To create the heart-shaped skewers, thread 4 blackberries onto each of 2 cocktail picks or small skewers, pressing them snugly together to form a heart shape. Set aside.
- Fill a cocktail shaker or beaker with ice. Add 4 ounces of silver tequila, 2 ounces of bottled beet juice (or a blend), 2 ounces of fresh lime juice, 1 1/2 ounces of agave nectar, and 1 ounce of orange liqueur. Shake or stir well until thoroughly chilled.
- Take the prepared glasses out of the refrigerator and fill them with fresh ice. Strain the margarita mixture into the glasses. Garnish each with a blackberry heart skewer and, if desired, a dehydrated orange slice. Serve right away.
