Ingredients
Directions
- Add ingredients to bread machine in the order specified by your machine; typically liquids go first, then flour, sugar, butter, salt, and yeast on top.
- Select the dough cycle (my machine takes 1 hour 3 minutes) and let it run.
- Heat oven to 350°F. Cover a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Once dough is ready, roll it out into a rectangular shape.
- Use a small spatula as a cutting guide, slicing strips along the edge of the dough with a sharp knife.
- Fold each edge over to create the mummy wrapping effect.
- Place the calzone on the prepared baking sheet, using two large spatulas if needed to move it.
- In a small bowl, whisk an egg, then brush it over the calzone.
- Optionally, sprinkle cornmeal on top.
- Bake for 20 to 30 minutes, until the crust turns golden brown.
- While the calzone cools for a few minutes, make the eyes: cut the ends off two black olives and fill each with a small amount of mozzarella cheese.
