This DIY project transforms a foam block into a decorative Halloween frame using scrapbook paper, ribbon, and a battery-operated LED light strand. You'll cut out a frame shape, add a pennant banner, spell 'boo' in lights, and hide the battery pack in the back. Hang it up with a ribbon for a fun seasonal accent.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Take a sheet of scrapbook paper and cut it into a 10-inch by 10-inch square. Inside that, mark an 8-inch by 8-inch inner square. Apply Mod Podge to the foam block and press the paper onto it.
  2. Let the Mod Podge dry completely. Then use the StyroCutter® to carefully cut along the inner square line, removing the center to form a frame.
  3. Hide the bare foam edges by hot gluing 1-inch-wide ribbon all around the outer and inner borders of the frame.
  4. Cut several small pennant shapes from coordinating scrapbook paper. Hot glue each pennant onto a length of jute twine to create a banner.
  5. Attach the pennant banner across the front of the frame using hot glue, positioning it as desired.
  6. Grab some cute scrapbook brads that match the theme and glue them onto the corner opposite the banner for extra decoration.
  7. Take the battery-operated LED light strand and arrange the wire into cursive letters spelling 'boo' on the frame's front. Press the wire gently to hold.
  8. On the back of the foam frame, carve out a small cavity with the StyroCutter® to fit the battery pack snugly.
  9. Cover the back of the frame with a piece of contrasting scrapbook paper, then glue the light strand into place along your cursive design.
  10. Finish by hot gluing a length of ribbon to the top back of the frame to create a hanger.
