Make Your Own Halloween Lanterns
Turn plain mason jars into spooky skull lanterns with paint and your choice of hand-cut or Cricut templates.
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at thecountrychiccottage.net.
This project transforms ordinary mason jars into Halloween lanterns featuring skull designs. You can either hand-cut paper skulls or use a Cricut machine to create stencils. After applying the design, you'll paint with color-shift, black spray, and silver glitter paints for a festive finish.

Directions
- Begin with a mason jar that has at least one smooth side free of embossing. Clean it thoroughly using rubbing alcohol, then wipe dry. If you're doing this by hand, apply a strip of wide masking tape to the smooth side. If you're using a Cricut, skip the tape and move to the next step.
- For hand-cut lanterns, print the skull templates on copy paper, choose a shape, cut it out with scissors, and tape it over the masking tape. For Cricut users, upload the skull file as a single layer into Cricut Design Space (refer to the provided video for help).
