Pet Ghost Halloween Craft - It's Always Autumn
PHOTO · ITSALWAYSAUTUMN.COM

This craft uses hot glue and fishing line to make tiny ghosts suspended in mini jars. You'll shape the ghosts on foil, add faces, and hang them from corks above a bed of moss. Perfect for a spooky but cute Halloween decoration.

You'll need

Directions

  1. Take a square of aluminum foil and fold it in half twice. Cut a 6-inch piece of fishing line and place it on the foil. (Note: photos show a cutting mat, but foil works best.)
  2. Squeeze a large dot of hot glue onto one end of the fishing line, then continue squeezing to form a ghost shape. For 2-inch bottles, the ghost should be about 3/4 inch tall. If you don't like the shape, just make another.
  3. Let the glue cool for about 2 minutes until it becomes cloudy and firm to the touch. Peel the foil off the back of the ghost (the fishing line will be sticking out the top). Don't wait too long or the glue will bond to the foil. Once removed, the ghost will look whiter. Use a fine-tip Sharpie to draw eyes and a mouth.
  4. Open a mini jar and place a small amount of moss in the bottom.
  5. If using a needle, thread the other end of the fishing line through it. Push the needle through the cork from the bottom up. A thimble or ruler can help push the needle through. Once the needle is through, the ghost will be suspended from the cork.
  6. Place the ghost inside the jar and press the cork down to seal. Pull the fishing line until the ghost hovers above the moss. Add a tiny dab of hot glue on top of the cork where the line exits to secure it, then snip off the extra fishing line. Your pet ghost is done!
