Turn your living room into a pumpkin patch for imaginative play with hay bales, pumpkins, and a pretend store!
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at toddlerapproved.com.
Create a fun pretend play pumpkin patch indoors using a tarp, hay bales, and pumpkins. Set up a table with paper, pens, a poster, and a cash register for kids to price items and role-play as customers and shopkeepers. Cleanup becomes part of the game as shopkeepers sweep up hay and debris.
Directions
- Lay a painter's tarp flat on the ground after folding it to the desired size.
- Arrange hay bales and a variety of pumpkins in different sizes on top of the tarp.
- Place a table and chairs close to the pumpkin display.
- Put paper, writing utensils, a poster, and a toy cash register on the table.
- Let the children set prices for the pumpkins and make a sign for their pumpkin patch.
- Join the fun by switching roles between customers and shopkeepers, using the cash register and bags for pretend purchases.
- Motivate cleanup by having the shopkeepers sweep up hay and debris with a broom and dustpan.
