Create a festive Halloween snack by shaping pizza dough into a spider with a hollow body filled with warm marinara. The legs are baked separately as crispy dippers. It's a fun and delicious centerpiece for any Halloween party.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Cover two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. To form the spider, take one dough ball and cut it in half. From one half, mold a 5-inch sphere for the body. From the other half, cut a 1½-inch strip and shape it into a 2½-inch sphere for the head. Then cut the leftover dough into eight strips and roll each into a 6-inch rope for the legs.
  3. On one baking sheet, arrange the body, legs, and head to look like a spider, pressing the pieces together lightly. Brush the whole spider with beaten egg. Sprinkle the legs with two tablespoons of Parmesan. Put two olive slices on top of the head as eyes and two on the bottom as pincers. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden, covering the legs with foil if they brown too fast.
  4. While that bakes, prepare the spider leg sticks. Cut the other dough ball into eight pieces. Roll each piece into a ¾-inch-thick rope, then cut into different lengths. Taper one end of each piece and slightly curve the other to mimic legs. Place them on the second baking sheet. Brush with leftover egg and sprinkle with the remaining ¼ cup Parmesan. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden.
  5. While everything bakes, warm the marinara sauce. When the spider is done, use a knife to hollow out the body and fill it with warm sauce. Serve with the leg sticks.
