Spider Web Plates
Create a creepy-crawly craft with black plates and yarn—perfect for Halloween decorating!
Our own summary of the original — the full post and photos live at annelilydesign.blogspot.com.
Turn simple black paper plates into spider webs using white yarn and a hole punch. Once the web is woven, add felt spiders (available in orange, black, or purple) on top or tucked under the yarn for a spooky effect.
You'll need
Directions
- Use a hole punch to create holes evenly spaced around the rim of a black paper plate.
- Cut a length of white yarn and tie one end securely through a hole on the plate.
- Weave the yarn across the plate, threading it through each hole in a crisscross pattern to mimic a spider web. If the yarn becomes too long for small hands, tie off the current piece and start a new strand. Trim any excess yarn as needed.
- Prepare your spiders—like felt stickers available in orange, black, and purple from craft stores, which have adhesive backing.
- Attach the spider either on top of the yarn web, or tuck it underneath the strands. Your spooky decoration is complete!
