This craft uses freshly fallen leaves, acrylic paint, and paint markers to create bat, pumpkin, and ghost decorations. After painting a base color and adding faces, display them as hanging ornaments, table centerpieces, or a wreath.
You'll need
Directions
- Collect an assortment of recently fallen leaves, choosing flat and unblemished specimens like maple, oak, or sycamore. Pick leaves in various sizes to make your display more interesting.
- Cover your work surface with newspaper or a drop cloth to catch any paint drips and keep your area tidy.
- Select a base color for each leaf type: use black acrylic paint for bats, bright orange for pumpkins, and white for ghosts. Apply a thick coat of paint to one side of each leaf using a paintbrush, then let them dry thoroughly.
- Once the paint is dry, use paint markers to draw faces on the leaves. For jack-o-lanterns and ghosts, use a black marker; for bats, use a white marker.
- Show off your spooky leaves by attaching string to the stems to hang them, arranging them in a decorative bowl for a table centerpiece, or gluing them onto a wreath frame for a festive door decoration.
