A friendly pumpkin patch vignette

Good Halloween crafts for toddlers have a short list of requirements: few steps, materials big enough to grab, and some tolerance for paint in unexpected places. Most of these lean on three dependable formats — handprints, paper plates and sensory bins — with a few that call for an adult on the cutting.

They’re drawn from the Fieldguide’s kids’ and paper craft shelves, and they range from simple stamping to keepsakes set in clay and plaster. One rule covers all of them: supervise small hands closely, and keep small parts — beans, googly eyes, pom poms — where you can see them.

Every handprint craft is secretly a measurement.

Pick one format and repeat it; toddlers rarely object to a second go at the same paint. The full kids’ craft shelf has more handprints, paper plates and sensory bins, each linked to the guide it came from.
