Our own summary of the original by Georgia Goode — the full post and photos live at thepioneerwoman.com.
This homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte combines pumpkin puree, sugars, and spice in a saucepan, then adds milk and vanilla for a creamy base. After heating, the mixture is frothed and poured over hot espresso, then topped with whipped cream and a dusting of pumpkin pie spice.
Ingredients
Directions
- In a small saucepan, stir together the pumpkin puree, brown sugar, granulated sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and 1 tablespoon of water. Cook over medium heat, stirring often with a rubber spatula, for 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture is smooth and the sugars have dissolved.
- Pour in the milk and vanilla extract, then whisk until fully combined. Continue cooking for another 2 to 3 minutes until the liquid is just about to simmer. Take the pan off the heat. For a foamy texture, either whisk the mixture vigorously, or let it cool a bit, transfer to a mason jar, cover tightly, and shake hard.
- Pour the hot espresso or strong coffee into a mug. Immediately top with the foamy pumpkin spice milk. Finish with a dollop of whipped cream and an extra sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice.
